Reflection from Suhani
The International Baccalaureate program is a continuous challenge, a journey that pushes you beyond your limits. While the program equipped me with invaluable academic and life skills, my time at Goldcrest International (GI) taught me so much more.
Goldcrest International fosters a student-led environment, empowering each of us to carve our own path. One of the things that impressed me most when I first joined was the freedom students had to make their own choices and the trust the school placed in us. I was amazed to see students taking on more than six subjects, and I remember thinking, "Why would anyone want to do extra work? Over the past two years, I’ve come to understand why—and that understanding is one of my biggest academic achievements. At GI, learning is about more than academics; it’s about passion, curiosity, and embracing challenges.
A significant part of this journey was Theory of Knowledge (TOK), which became a cornerstone of my learning at GI. They challenged me to question my assumptions, analyze different perspectives, and explore the grey areas between right and wrong. TOK at GI wasn’t about finding the “right” answers; it was about asking the right questions. It taught me how to critically evaluate information, navigate ambiguity, and articulate my ideas clearly. These skills have been invaluable, especially now as I pursue a law degree at the University of Warwick, where the ability to analyze multiple viewpoints and build coherent arguments is essential.
What sets GI apart is its culture of open communication and mutual respect. It’s a place where you’re encouraged to stand up for what you believe in and share your perspective. Disagreements are seen as opportunities to learn and grow. GI taught me that the skill of disagreeing respectfully—while still being open to learning from others—is fundamental, and GI ensured that this environment existed.
The supportive and approachable teachers, coupled with the collaborative atmosphere, made GI feel like more than just a school—it was a space for exploration, self-discovery, and growth.
Reflection from Lakshee Vihang Karle
My two years at GI were truly pivotal in shaping the person I am today. Looking back I realise just how much I changed over those two transformative years, from being a shy girl and having very little idea about what I was doing and where I was headed, to discovering my passion for architecture and leaving the country on my own to explore that passion. Along the way, I also built my confidence, became a better communicator, started viewing the world through a new lens and acquired valuable skills, both personal and academic which have all become an essential part of my university life. These experiences did not only define my growth but also sparked a love for learning that continues to guide me today.
